We are so excited to share that Burntisland Hedgehog Haven has now been featured in Portugal’s national newspaper Público.
The article, titled “Este casal salvou centenas de ouriços transformando a casa num hospital”, tells the story of how we turned our home into a hedgehog rescue centre and have since helped care for over 600 hedgehogs.

A Truly International Moment
To see our little rescue here in Fife featured in international media is something we never imagined. This time, our story has reached readers in Portugal, helping raise awareness about hedgehog welfare and the challenges these beautiful animals face not only in the UK, but across Europe.
Although the article is written in Portuguese, the message is universal. It speaks to compassion, community and the power of small actions making a big difference.
Thank You to Our Community
This is another proud moment for everyone who supports us. From volunteers and drivers to donors and friends who share our work — this recognition is for you as well. We could not do any of this without your kindness and encouragement.
With love
Sharon, Andy and all the hedgehogs
