Who we are
Burntisland Hedgehog Haven is a Scottish charitable trust (charity number SC052888), based at 27 Fidra Avenue, Burntisland, Fife KY3 0BE. We are the data controller for the personal information described here. You can contact us at burntislandhedgehoghaven@gmail.com or on 07577 000328.
What we collect and why
- Contact form and emails: your name, email address, phone number (if given) and your message, so we can reply to you. We keep these only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.
- Gift Aid declarations: your name, home address, postcode and, if you give it, your email address. HMRC requires us to keep these records so we can claim Gift Aid on your donations. We keep them for as long as your declaration is in use and for six years afterwards, as HMRC requires.
- Shop ideas: your suggestion and, if you choose to give them, your name and email address, so we can reply.
- Volunteer enquiries: the details you give on our volunteer form (name, contact details, town, availability and anything you tell us about yourself). We use them only to get in touch about volunteering, and delete them when they are no longer needed.
- Hedgehog admissions: if you bring us a hedgehog, we record your name, contact details and where the hedgehog was found, so we can update you and release the hedgehog back to the right place.
- Donations and shop orders: payments are made through PayPal or by bank transfer. We receive your name, the amount and, for shop orders, your delivery address. We never see or store your card details.
Our legal basis
We process enquiries and admissions in our legitimate interests in running the rescue, Gift Aid information to meet our legal obligations to HMRC, and orders to fulfil a contract with you.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information. We share it only where necessary: with HMRC for Gift Aid claims, and with the services that help us run the website and handle payments (our web host and PayPal).
Cookies
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. A small session cookie is used to make the contact and Gift Aid forms secure, and is deleted when you close your browser. Embedded Google Maps on our contact page, and videos embedded from YouTube or Facebook, may set their own cookies.
We count how many times each page is viewed and which website a visitor arrived from (for example Google or Facebook). This is done without cookies and without storing IP addresses or any other personal information.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to how we use it. Contact us using the details above. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
