We are absolutely amazed and incredibly humbled to share the news that Burntisland Hedgehog Haven has been named a finalist in the BBC Make A Difference Awards.
To say we are blown away would be an understatement. We never do this for recognition or awards. Every rescue, every late-night feed, every vet trip is done simply out of love for hedgehogs and the desire to help where we can.
So to find out that someone, or perhaps even more than one person, nominated us for this award is truly touching. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Shining a Light on the Hedgehogs
Being chosen as a finalist is not just an honour for us personally. It is a powerful moment for hedgehogs too. These wonderful little creatures are facing more threats than ever before. From habitat loss and road accidents to injuries caused by garden tools and litter, they need our help and our attention.
This recognition from the BBC will help us raise even more awareness and inspire others to get involved, whether that means building a hedgehog highway, leaving out food and water, or supporting local rescues like ours.
We would not be here without our amazing team of volunteers, our dedicated drivers in Fife and Edinburgh, the unwavering support of St Clair Vet Group in Kirkcaldy, and every single one of you who follows, donates, shares our posts, and champions our cause.
Thank you so much for believing in us. We are so proud to be able to represent our little spiky friends in such a special way.
With love and gratitude
Sharon, Andy and all the hedgehogs
