Three Halves, One Big Heart

They say good things come in threes and for Andy, three half marathons, three weekends, and one incredible cause have come together in perfect harmony.

On Sunday 5th October 2025, Andy completed his third and final half marathon, the AJ Bell Great Scottish Run (13.1 miles). This rounded off a phenomenal fundraising effort in support of Burntisland Hedgehog Haven.

And with that final stride through the Glasgow finish line, Andy’s journey came full circle, a full 39.3 miles run across three weekends. All in aid of our precious prickly pals.

The Final Chapter in a Brilliant Journey

Andy’s autumn running challenge began with the Kirkcaldy Half Marathon, continued with the world-famous Great North Run, and has now ended in style with the AJ Bell Great Scottish Run, one of Scotland’s most iconic road races.

Each race brought its own challenges. Different cities, different crowds, different weather but the same goal: to raise as much as possible for the hedgehogs in our care.

With every step, Andy has not only raised vital funds but also awareness, reminding people across Fife, the UK, and beyond just how important it is to protect our native wildlife.

Throughout this journey, the support has been absolutely overwhelming. From day one, friends, family, local supporters and fellow wildlife lovers have opened their hearts and wallets to get behind Andy’s cause.

To everyone who has donated, cheered him on, shared the fundraiser or simply offered a kind word along the way – thank you. It means the world to us, and even more to the hedgehogs who rely on our help.

Every single donation will be put to good use this winter – funding food, heating, bedding, vet care, and everything else needed to keep sick, orphaned and underweight hedgehogs safe through the colder months.
