We are delighted to share that Susan has made a full recovery and has been released back to Auchtermuchty, weighing 781g.
Susan was spotted out in the day in Auchtermuchty. She had a small wound on the right side of her head, so it's likely crows had already started to attack her. Sadly, wee hedgehogs out in daylight are at risk from crows, seagulls and magpies looking for easy prey.
Susan weighed only 322g, and with a wound she was at high risk of fly strike (flies laying their eggs on her), so we are so thankful she was picked up. We also found that Susan was suffering from multiple internal parasites, which can be brought on by stress. She had no mum, was scared and alone, had to find food and water for herself, and was dealing with a wound.
Thankfully, she came through it all and went home to Auchtermuchty at 781g. Thank you to everyone involved in the rescue of this beautiful girl.
