Andy Runs for the Hedgehogs
Over the past two weekends, something rather special happened. Amid the clatter of running shoes on tarmac and the cheers of spectators, one local man quietly clocked up 26.2 miles for a cause close to his heart – and ours.
That man is Andy, and we’re absolutely thrilled to celebrate what he’s achieved: completing both the Kirkcaldy Half Marathon and the Great North Run – raising vital funds and awareness for Burntisland Hedgehog Haven.
A Marathon of Love (in Two Parts)
Most people would be proud to take on one half marathon. It takes commitment, training, and plenty of grit. But two in a row, just eight days apart? That’s something else entirely.
On Sunday 31st August, Andy joined the sea of runners at the Kirkcaldy Half Marathon, powering through 13.1 miles along familiar local streets. No sooner had the blisters started to settle than he was off again – this time to Newcastle, where he took part in the Great North Run, the world’s biggest half marathon, on Sunday 7th September.
Through rain, sunshine, sore legs and aching feet, Andy kept going – spurred on by a simple goal: helping hedgehogs in need.
Andy’s run wasn’t just about the miles. It was about giving these little creatures a second chance.
Powered by Kindness
Thanks to your generous support, Andy’s fundraiser is already helping to cover food, bedding, veterinary treatment and rehabilitation for the hedgehogs in our care. From tiny hoglets in need of warmth, to injured adults who’ve survived garden strimmers and road accidents, every donation makes a difference.
And it’s not over yet.
There’s still time to support Andy’s incredible effort by donating through his GoFundMe page:
