Do you think the hedgehog in our photos looks unwell? If you saw him out in the day, would you leave him? As we always say, hedgehogs are masters at masking their illness.
The hedgehog in these photos is extremely poorly with lungworm. He has the largest amount of lungworm we have ever seen in a faecal sample: 192 wriggling lungworms in a tiny speck of poo.
Yet he is eating, and his poo actually looks normal at the moment.
Please remember that just because a hedgehog is eating or lively, it doesn't mean it is well. We can't see what's going on inside. Out in the day is NOT ok. They are always out for a reason, so please always get advice from a rescue.
If you are worried about a hedgehog, you can find out what to do on our found a hedgehog page.
