It has been a tick kind of night here. We had a busy day with four admissions, and of course one of them is called Boelo.
Boelo was spotted by Susan outside her house in the road. She went out, picked the little one up and called us. He weighs only 206g, so he must have had an awful night on his own out in the storm. He had some pretty big ticks all around his ears, but he is safe with us now and the ticks have been removed, thanks to Susan.
Rebus came in from Kinghorn, thanks to Stewart for noticing him in the garden. Rebus is a previous release of ours who came to us and was released in September last year. He looks to have done very well this past year and weighs more now (945g) than he did on release. Sadly he was covered in ticks. Most of them have now been removed and he is settled, but he is coughing.
Hamish came in for his check up as he is one of our secure garden hedgehogs. He is an older hedgehog who had most of his teeth removed two years ago due to infection. He is a bit sniffly, so he is staying in while we get a poop sample to check there are no parasites lurking.
Our little male came in an hour ago. He was spotted on a driveway just round the corner from us, not moving, and being so small Bob gave us a call. He weighs only 230g so he will be staying with us until he is bigger. He was very cold and is warming up slowly in our last incubator. Thank you Bob for giving us a call.
