It is with great regret that we have had to temporarily close Burntisland Hedgehog Haven to new admissions for approximately two weeks.

Over recent days we have seen a significant increase in the number of poorly and critically ill hedgehogs arriving into our care and we have now reached our maximum permitted capacity.

This decision has not been taken lightly. Anyone who knows us will understand just how difficult it is for us to say no when a hedgehog is in need of help, however the welfare of the animals currently in our care must come first. At this moment in time, many of our hedgehogs require intensive treatment, medication, feeding and around-the-clock monitoring.

We simply cannot stretch ourselves any further without impacting the level of care these vulnerable animals deserve.

While we are unable to accept new admissions during this period, we are still very much available to offer advice and guidance. If you find a hedgehog needing urgent assistance, we would kindly ask that you contact your nearest wildlife rescue or the SSPCA.

We fully appreciate how upsetting and frustrating this may be for people trying to seek help for injured wildlife and we are truly sorry for any disappointment caused.

The support we receive from the local community means the world to us and we are incredibly grateful for your patience and understanding while we focus all of our attention on the hedgehogs already under our care.
